Laissez les bons temps rouler, cher!
It was a great reunion! Special thanks to Ed Jatho and his wife Sharon, sister Barbara, brother Woody, cousins Jerry and Jay, and Uncle Jack and Aunt Grace for hosting us so beautifully and telling us stories of Jatho adventures in New Orleans. Check below to see a selection of reunion photos. By the way, if you took some photos at the reunion and would like to share, contact the webmaster and we'll include them here.We had a scanning party Saturday evening and we're so grateful to Ed and Jerry for sharing their family photos with us. To see them, check out our online photo collection. Select "Jatho" from the list on the left-hand side of the web page and you can scroll through the complete collection. You can also search for a particular individual by name (e.g. Norwood). Have fun!
Sharon and Uncle Jack

Sharon Jatho, Ed's wife, and Uncle Norwood "Jack" Jatho welcome us to the "Fait do-do" on Saturday. Jack is the oldest Jatho in our clan, descended from Edmond Jatho's line. Jack's wife Grace is seated in the background.
Judi's photo book

Judi Jatho Weber (from William Jatho's line) shows Uncle Jack and his nephew Jay her collection of family photos.
Authentic cuisine

Edgar Jatho Jr. cooks up a storm in his bountiful kitchen.
Included on the menu: home-made
jambalaya and seafood gumbo, baked ham, plus red beans and rice, the special family recipe for potato salad, and a host of other goodies and desserts.
Ed was
also given the test: did he have the famous Jatho Toe (second toe longer than the big toe) or not?
The answer: yes, of course! Uncle Jack said "I didn't know there
were any other kinds of toes."
Anita and Myra

Anita Kailing and Myra Mamo (from the Carl Julius Jatho branch of the family) are about to sample the food.
Feasting on family history

Ed's brother Norwood "Woody" Jatho entertains us with family stories while Linda (from the Carl Julius line) and Dravin and kids enjoy dinner. Baby Lucah clearly loves New Orleans cuisine.
Bryson

Bryson John Jatho (left) is the youngest of the Edmond Jatho branch of the
family. Not yet two, he had enough energy to party all evening. Bryson is Woody's grandson.
At
right is Grace Raziano Jatho, Uncle Jack's wife of sixty-two years. They're a charming couple, full of recollections and great family
stories, and they're clearly as much in love as the
day they were married.

A portrait of Uncle Jack

Uncle Jack is Edmond Jatho's grandson---who, in this portrait, looks a lot like his
grandfather's elder brother
George W. Jatho. Uncle Jack never met Edmond, who died in 1910, but he remembers
his grandmother Edith Ripley Jatho MacMurdo, who died in 1933. She ran a girl's home in New Orleans later in her life. Jack also
recalls the stories he was told about being the "last of the Jathos". Interesting how that tale appears in each of the clans.
Jack also remembers that his late brother Kenneth, who was briefly stationed in Charleston SC during WWII, phoned someone from
the Charleston Jathos in the early 1940s---probably one of George Jatho's daughters: Maryliese, Pauline, or Olga. They didn't
have time for a get-together but they did chat, Jack recalls.
Christa and Michelle

Christa is Jerry Jatho's daughter; Michelle is Bryson's mom. Michelle was kind enough to sit down with us and fill us in on some of the more recent Jatho history.
Five Jathos

From left: Woody, his brother Ed (our host), their sister Barbara in back, cousin Jerry, and cousin J.C. "Jay" Jatho.
