Hans Petersen family

This photo was taken around the time of Hans' and Catharina's wedding. Catharina's dress is a typical Danish/North German wedding design, as is the lace crown and veil.

At right are Margaret or Maggie (born in 1888 in Nebraska), Marie, (seated, born in 1899 in Chicago), Peter (1884 in Nebraska) and Alfred, later Alva (1894 in Chicago). Oldest son Louis (born 1880 in Fairmont, Nebraska) is pictured on his own page.

Hans and Catharina had eleven children in all, though four of them died in infancy (Elise Christina, Elise Margaretha, Johann Christian and Edward Andreas) . Margaret died at age fifteen in 1903. Louis, Peter, Alfred, Marie, George and a later son Clarence (born in 1904) all raised families.
