Pauline Marcella Jatho (Charleston)

Pauline Marcella Jatho was born in 1893 in Charleston and was named after her aunt Pauline and brother-in-law Marcellus. She was the fifth daughter of George and Arnolda Jatho.

In 1917 Pauline married William Henry Magwood, whose family had been involved in fishing and shrimp operations off the coast of South Carolina for decades.

Among the attendees at the wedding were two of Pauline's sisters and her sister Olga's future father-in-law, Hugh W. Quin. Henry (as he preferred to be called) and Pauline had three sons, William Henry Jr., George J. and Simon Magwood.

Pauline was a great saver of family documents; we're grateful to her and her older sisters Georgia and Maryliese for providing so much Jatho family information.

Capt. Magwood died in 1964; a detailed obituary of his life is available by clicking the link at left. Pauline died in 1986. She and her husband are buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston.
