Müller family photos
Frederick
Müller (click photos to enlarge) was Louis' oldest son, born in 1844.
He's pictured here around 1885 with his wife Ella Smeltzer Müller and
four of their six children: Anna Caroline, baby Ella Louise, John William
and Frederick Smeltzer. At left is a portrait of them in the 1900s. Fred was
a successful salesman in Charleston after his stint in the Confederate army and a
much-respected member of the community. He died in 1929.
Helena's husband Theodore Melchers (1834-1907). Theodore was a grocer in Charleston, his brother Franz C. Melchers a publisher.
Helena Müller Melchers and one of her daughters in a photo from the 1880s. Helena bears a very close resemblance to her own mother, Carolina , Louis' formidable wife.
