In 1945 George Bruns bought several items at a Boston auction---an Oriental rug, an antique lamp, and this leather-bound guest book (pictured at left). The book had been used as an informal registry at the Nickerson Estate in East Brewster, Massachussetts.

Most of the early entries (from 1915 onward) are signatures of guests, with an occasional telegram or postcard taped to the pages.

On Armistice Day in 1918 the guests were exuberant.

There was one drawing in particular that was very accomplished indeed. It's signed by the Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha. Click here for more details....
